COMPETITION RULES

  • The technology proposed must aim to solve one or more specific retail challenges;
  • The concept should be creative, innovative and show clever problem solving;
  • Any technology is allowed as long as it is cost effective and can be commercialised. It is preferable if the technology is commercial, off the shelf and available;
  • The final product must be able to be made reliably (commercially viable);
  • Each product should be end to end (customer through platform to retail tenant and back);
  • The platform should be a seamless integration of digital technologies and processes;
  • To be eligible, entries must be submitted in English, must be your own original work and cannot have been selected as a winner in any other competition or challenge;
  • Applicants must own the intellectual property (IP) or have the option to acquire it.

An entry must NOT contain material that:

  • Is considered obscene or offensive;
  • Is unnecessarily explicit, violent or derogatory;
  • Promotes alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco or political agenda;
  • Infringes intellectual property rights of others;
  • Contains trademarks, logos or other items, material that is owned by others, without express consent of the relevant rights holder(s).

The competition judges reserve the right to investigate and verify, conditionally reject, or reject outright, any entry that we determine does not meet the desired criteria.

JUDGING CRITERIA

The Retail Game-Changer Challenge is a merit-based initiative. Only applicants who meet the eligibility criteria and who satisfy the judging criteria (as determined by the judging panel) will be successful.

The judging criteria used to evaluate submissions will include:

  • Retail challenge(s) being targeted – the importance/relevance of the issue(s) your technology aims to address;
  • Suitability - how well your product addresses this challenge;
  • Innovation – how unique is your idea? What is your point of difference from other products?
  • Technology solution – the quality and viability of the prototype or technology you have created;
  • Scalability – how commercially viable your solution is;
  • Team – evidence of an understanding of, and access to, appropriate skills, experience and determination for your team to advance the commercialisation of the concept submitted.
