Terms and conditions of use
(UNISA GLOBAL ALUMNI CONNECT)

 

 

These Terms apply to all registered users (“Members”), visitors and others who access or use the UniSA Global Alumni Connect online platform (“Service”) operated by and on behalf of the University of South Australia (“UniSA”, “us”, “our” or “we”).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions of use and also our Privacy Policy and Privacy Statement, as may be amended from time to time, (“Terms”).

Introduction

UniSA Global Alumni Connect is an online platform designed to facilitate personal and professional networking between graduates of UniSA and its antecedent institutions (“Alumni”). The Service is provided exclusively to Alumni free of charge.

All users registering to be Members will be verified against our current Alumni records during the registration process before being granted access to the Service. Membership of the Service is at our sole discretion.

Online directory

The Service includes a searchable online directory listing the names, years of graduation and primary subject of study of those Alumni who are Members.

You can choose to make your contact details available to other Members, and they to you. Please treat this information respectfully. Anyone who uses the Service to contact a Member for any purpose other than for personal and/or professional networking (such as to send spam, junk mail, or to solicit business) will be removed from the Service and their access will be terminated.

Your ‘Personal Profile'

Each Member’s Personal Profile is pre-populated with their primary subject of study at UniSA or an antecedent institution. This information should not be changed as it is legal data provided by UniSA in relation to your study with us. If you believe any of your pre-populated data is incorrect, please contact the Advancement Services Unit by emailing alumni@unisa.edu.au.

A print out of information from the Service, including your Personal Profile, does not qualify as official evidence of your degree award. To obtain a replacement degree certificate, please contact the Advancement Services Unit by emailing alumni@unisa.edu.au.

Your Membership

You may be permitted to access the Service once you register as a Member. You agree that you will only access the Service using the user name and password provided to you by UniSA. You must ensure that your user name and password are securely stored at all times and you must not provide these details to any other person.

You agree that any details that you supply in the course of using the Service are true and correct.

UniSA reserves the right to limit your use of the Service, including the number of your connections and your ability to contact other Members. UniSA reserves the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate your account entirely or in part if UniSA believes that you may be in breach of this Agreement or law or are misusing the Service.

We will carefully consider any request to remove any information or content. Where a reasonable request has been made to remove information or content that has breached these Terms, we will remove the content as soon as reasonably practicable.

We are not required to publish any information or content on our Service and can remove it in our sole discretion, with our without notice.

Links to Other Web Sites

UniSA does not review the information (“Information”) uploaded onto the Service by Members or others.

You rely on the Information at your own risk. You acknowledge that you must satisfy yourself of the validity of the Information that Members upload onto the Service, and in the event a third party includes a hyperlink to another web site, the information on that other web site. Your use of such hyperlinks is entirely at your own risk.

You acknowledge and agree that UniSA shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any Information, or information available on or through other web sites.

We strongly advise you to read the terms and conditions and privacy policies of any third-party web sites that you visit.

Intellectual Property

Information posted by Members must be accurate and not infringe any third party intellectual property rights. We will immediately terminate your account upon becoming aware of any infringement of such rights by you. Any user encountering content on the Service which appears to infringe such rights should contact the Advancement Services Unit at alumni@unisa.edu.au.

UniSA reserves all of its intellectual property rights in the Service.

Privacy

To set up a Member account you will need to provide particular personal information to UniSA. We will handle that personal information in accordance with our privacy policy, a copy of which can be viewed here, and the privacy statement which can be viewed here

You have control over the personal information you choose to enter when using the Service. Information and content that you share or post when using the Service, including on your Personal Profile or Mentor Profile, may be seen, copied and used by other Members. Where we have made settings available, we will ensure that any changes you make to these settings about who can access your content or information are implemented.

In addition, you may choose to provide your personal information only to UniSA using the ‘My University Record’ function. Any information you enter here will be shared only with UniSA.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend access to our Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever.

Any person whose access has been suspended or terminated will not be permitted to re-register for, or re-access, the Service without prior written consent from UniSA.

All provisions of the Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including without limitation warranties, disclaimers, indemnities and limitations of liability.

Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, all conditions, warranties, guarantees, rights, remedies, liabilities and other terms implied by statute, custom or the common law are excluded from the Services and the use of those Services by Members, visitors and others who access or use the Service.

UniSA will not be liable for any loss or damage suffered by visitors, Members and other who access or use the UniSA Global Alumni Connect Service arising from, or in any way connected with, the Services (including without limitation loss or damage as a result of any inaccurate, misleading or false content or information encountered when using the Service).

It is the responsibility of each Member:

  • To ensure that they do not post anything that contains a software virus, or any other harmful code;
  • Not to post any data on UniSA Global Alumni Connect web sites which is explicit, abusive or likely to cause offence, or is otherwise objectionable;
  • Not to post any data on UniSA Global Alumni Connect web sites which is inaccurate, fraudulent, or violates the law or anyone’s rights (including the intellectual property rights of UniSA or any third party); and
  • Not to share or disclose information of others without their consent.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material we will try to provide at least 30 days’ notice prior to any new terms taking effect.

By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, please stop using the Service.

Member responsibility
