Open to Alumnus of the Promoter, who reside in a country that permits entry and participation in this promotion, and who are over the age of 18. Entrants residing in countries other than Australia must be available to travel at a time coinciding with the 25th Birthday Gala Dinner on 29 July 2016 . Only one entry per person will be permitted. Competition opens 02/03/16 at 12:01 AM and closes 04/05/16 at 12:01 PM. Winner will be announced on 20 May 2016. The total prize pool valued up to $20,350 (incl.GST). The winner’s flights and accommodation will be selected and booked at the Promoters’ discretion. Terms and Conditions (Skill-Based Competition)

General

  1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of the Terms and Conditions. Entry into this competition deems acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
  2. To the extent of any inconsistency between these Terms and Conditions and any other reference to this competition, these Terms and Conditions prevail.

Eligibility

  1. Subject to clauses 4 and 5, entry is open to individuals who are an Alumnus of the Promoter, are over the age of 18, as of the date of entry, who reside in a country that permits entry and participation in this promotion and who have fulfilled the requirements set out below ('Eligible Entrants').
  2. Alumnus of the Promoter means any:
    1. graduate of the Promoter or its antecedent institution;
    2. student who is currently enrolled in a tertiary or approved course with the Promoter, who will be conferred their award or degree by no later than 4/05/2016
    3. staff member that has been continuously employed by the Promoter for more than 5 years; or
    4. former staff member, that was continuously employed by the Promoter or its antecedent institution, for more than 5 years.

  4. Entrants residing in countries other than Australia must be available to travel to Australia at a time coinciding with the 25th Birthday Gala Dinner on a 29 July 2016 .

How to enter

  1. Eligible Entrants may enter this competition during the Promotional Period (defined below) by logging onto the Global Alumni Reconnect 2016 competition, confirming their contact details, submitting their best piece of advice in 25 words or less, and verify (activate) their UniSA Global Alumni Connect account.
  2. The winner will be selected (by a judging panel) based on their words of wisdom.
  3. By submitting an entry into this competition entrants consent to receive promotional and other marketing messages from the Promoter (including messages sent electronically for an unlimited period of time). Entrants will be able to opt-out at any time by following the instructions included in each message sent by the Promoter.

When to enter

  1. The competition commences on 02/03/16 at 12:01 AM and closes 04/05/16 at 12:01 PM ('Promotional Period'). All times noted in these Terms and Conditions are local times, based on the location of the Promoter. Entries must be received by the Promoter prior to the competition close date and time.
  2. The winner will be the best valid entry as judged by the judging panel, having regard to skill, creativity and originality, at the Promoter's Premises by 20 May 2016. The Promoter may select additional entries to be used as replacements in the event that the first entrant chosen as a winner cannot satisfy these Terms and Conditions or take a prize.
  3. The winner will be notified by email or phone at the Promoters’ descretion.
  4. Arrangements for prizes, and delivery of prizes ( if applicable ) will occur within 8 weeks of the judging date.

Number of Entries permitted

  1. Only one entry per person will be permitted. Entrants found to be submitting multiple entries may have all entries invalidated.

Prize on offer

  1. Total prize value is up to $20,350 (Including GST), as at 26/02/16. The prize on offer is set out below. The airfare and accommodation booking will ultimately be at the Promoters’ discretion.
  2. There is one (1) major prize to be won, as follows:

    1. If the winner resides outside of Australia, two (2) return business class tickets to Adelaide, Australia, from the winners nearest capital city , with travel to coincide with the Promoter’s 25th Birthday Gala Dinner on 29 July 2016 [valued up to AUD $19,000]
    2. or

    3. if the winner resides in Australia, two (2) return business class tickets from the winners nearest capital city in Australia to London departing between October 2016 and April 2017 [valued up to $19,000]

    5. Two tickets at the Promoters 25th Birthday Gala Dinner on 29 July [valued at $370]
    6. PLUS

    7. If the winner resides outside of Australia, three (3) nights' accommodation at the Promoter's preferred hotel in Adelaide (with a minimum rating of 3 stars) Adelaide [valued up to AUD$980] staying between 20 July 2016 and 10 August 2016 at the Promoters discretion
    8. OR

    9. If the winner resides in Australia, three (3) nights' accommodation at the Promoter's preferred hotel in London (with a minimum rating of 3 stars) [valued up to AUD$980]
    10. PLUS

    11. .Transfers to that hotel, the 25th birthday celebration venue (if the winner resides outside of Australia) and the airport of departure on the return trip. Flights will be with any of Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific or Emirates at the discretion of the Promoter

Prize includes

  1. airport taxes;
  2. booking of the tickets with the Promoter’s nominated airline carrier and choice of flight, on the winner’s behalf; and
  3. booking of accommodation with the Promoter’s nominated hotel, on the winner’s behalf.
  4. Prize excludes:

  5. travel insurance. However, it is highly recommended that the winner make their own arrangements in that regard;
  6. meals and activities, other than as already stated;
  7. costs of travel to the city of departure nearest to the winner’s residence;
  8. costs of procuring valid passports and any requisite visas, vaccinations and travel documentation;
  9. customs charges;
  10. spending money, gratuities/tips, excess baggage charges, additional transfers, items of a personal nature, in-room hotel charges;
  11. costs associated with amending or cancelling flights or accommodation after booking;
  12. any security deposit which may be payable by the winner and/or their companion in connection with the accommodation; and
  13. all other ancillary costs.
  14. costs of or associated with attendance of other guests ( other than their ticket to the Dinner) who may attend at the 25th Birthday Gala Dinner on the winner’s table.
  1. Any travel companion of the winner must be at least 18 years of age as at 1 July 2016.
  2. No part of the prize is redeemable for cash or other items, and the winner will receive no refunds, credits or substitutions based on variations in the airline carrier or hotel accommodation price.
  3. The winner must, as a condition of accepting the prize:
    1. make themselves available on the dates outlined in these Terms;
    2. be willing and able to travel to the locations outlined in these Terms;
    3. submit medical information to the Promoter promptly upon reasonable request, and submit to any reasonable medical examinations or probity or background checks that may be necessary to establish that the winner and any companion are able to travel to the locations described in the relevant Prize(s); and
    4. sign the Promoter’s:
      1. deed of release in relation to the use of their names and images for promotional purposes; and
      2. deed of indemnity and exclusion of liability.
  4. Flights and accommodation for the winner and their companion will be booked by the Promoter within fifty six (56 ) days of the draw being notified and the winner must provide the Promoter with all necessary information to complete the booking. Entrants residing in countries other than Australia must be available to travel at a time coinciding with a 25th birthday event scheduled for the Promoter,which is scheduled for 29 July 2016.
  5. The prize will only be awarded following validation and verification of the winner and their entry. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  6. If the Promoter is unable to contact the winner to claim fulfilment of the promotional prize or cannot validate or verify the winning entry within 7 days of the draw, or if the winner is unable to attend any element of the prize, that winner will forfeit the prize in its entirety and it shall be awarded to the next runner up in the promotion. The Promoter will not be liable for a winner who cannot be contacted or whose enetry cannot be validated or verified, and therefore forfeits their prize, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  7. Compliance with any health or other government requirements is the responsibility of the prize winner and their travel companions. All prize travel will be subject to the carrier’s General Conditions of Carriage. The Promoter and carrier make no representation as to the safety, conditions or other issues that may exist at any destination. International travel advice can be obtained from various sources, including local government, local consular offices and the web site of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade at www.smartraveller.gov.au. Prizes for travel for a particular event or attraction must be taken to coincide with the event or the times and dates during which the attraction is available. Travel insurance is not included in the prize but is highly recommended.
  8. Unless expressly stated in these Terms and Conditions all other expenses are the responsibility of the winners (and their companions) including but not limited to current passports, visas, meals, spending money, transport to and from departure and arrival points, transfers, drinks, incidentals, mini-bar, laundry, room service, telephone calls, activities, gratuities, services charges, travel insurance, pre and post accommodation, optional activities or excursions and all other ancillary costs. A credit card imprint or cash deposit may be required from the winner at check-in to the hotel, for all incidental charges.
  9. By entering the competition, and by collecting a prize, the winner acknowledges and accepts that driving, travel and any other activities comprising the prize, are inherently dangerous and may result in death, injury, incapacity, damage to property or other losses. The Promoter is not responsible for any acts of god, such as adverse weather conditions or industrial action or civil commotion that may occur whilst the winner is travelling. It is the responsibility of the prize-winner to enquire about local issues and conditions at destinations prior to travel. The Promoter does not guarantee that the winner will enjoy the travel prize or be suited to the type of travel prize that is offered.

Further Terms and Conditions

  1. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions if this competition cannot be run as originally planned. The Promoter may also cancel or suspend this competition if an event beyond the control of the Promoter corrupts or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition. The Promoter will disqualify any individual who has tampered with the entry process or any other aspect of this competition.
  2. In the event of:
    1. war, terrorism, state of emergency or disaster;
    2. an event affecting the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the promotion; or
    3. any other circumstance outside the reasonable control of the Promoter,

    the Promoter reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion and award the prize as otherwise deemed fair and appropriate by the Promoter, subject to any applicable Australian State and Territory legislation and any applicable law of an overseas jurisdiction.

  3. The Promoter and their associated agencies and companies will not be liable or responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems of the phone or of any phone network, or any misadventure, accident, injury, loss (including but not limited to consequential loss) or claim that may occur; whilst undertaking any travel won on or connected with their entry; in the participation in any prize; as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected mail, email SMS or phone call; due to the broadcast of any program relating to the competition or the publication of any material, including any statements made by any compere, staff member, journalist, other entrants or any other person; any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer software or phone; or any combination thereof, related to or resulting from participation or sending or receiving of any communication or of any materials in this competition.
  4. All entrants must submit ONLY their own original answers. Any such answers, cannot be previously published in any forum worldwide. All entries become the property of the Promoter and cannot be returned. Entries that are found to have been derived from the work or designs of a third party will be considered invalid and, if awarded a prize, that prize must be returned to the Promoter. The winner may be required to sign a statutory declaration regarding the originality of the entry. Without limiting the generality, the Promoter reserves the right to take legal action against anyone found to have breached this term. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the promotion. The Promoter's legal rights to recover damages or other compensation are reserved.
  5. If the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize of equal or greater value, subject to State Regulation. It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner must comply with all the conditions of use of the prize and prize supplier's requirements. Each prize must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if a winner is unable to use the prize as stated.
  6. The Promoter highly recommends a current residential street address be provided when requested for ease of correspondence and potential prize delivery. The Promoter makes all reasonable efforts ( where applicable )to deliver prizes to the addresses provided by competition entrants. The Promoter cannot guarantee that any prizes returned to the Promoter due to non-delivery at the provided address will be re-sent to the prize winner.
  7. The Promoter reserves the right to request winners to sign a winner's deed of release or any other relevant forms or agreements that the Promoter deems necessary, to provide proof of identity, proof of age, proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address and/or proof of entry validity (including phone bill) in order to claim a prize. Proof of identification, residency, age and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter. In the event that a winner cannot provide suitable proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.
  8. The Promoter reserves the right to rejudge in the event of an entrant, claiming to be a winner, being unable to satisfy these Terms and Conditions.
  9. The judges' decision in relation to any aspect of the competition is final and binding on each person who enters. Chance plays no part in determining any winner. No correspondence will be entered into. No responsibility is accepted for late, lost or misdirected entries. Prizes are subject to availability, not transferable or exchangeable and, with the exception of cash prizes, cannot be taken as cash. Prizes will be sent to the winner's nominated address as stated in their original entry. The Promoter and their associated agencies, and companies associated with this promotion will take no responsibility for prizes damaged or lost in transit.

Privacy Collection Statement

  1. In order for an Entrant to participate in this promotion, it is necessary for the Entrant to provide the Promoter with his/her personal information (Personal Data). The Promoter will be unable to process an entry without the Personal Data and further the Promoter cannot use the Personal Data for any of the purposes mentioned in this section without the Entrant’s consent.
  2. Therefore by submitting an entry into this promotion, the Entrant acknowledges, agrees and consents that the Personal Data (including his/her name, telephone number, address, email address and other communication information provided through an entry) may be retained and used by the Promoter and its related entities for the Entrant’s participation in this promotion and the other purposes mentioned below should consent be given by the entrant. If Entrant does not agree, please do not submit an entry. The Entrant may however withdraw consent at any time by written notification to the Promoter.
  3. The Personal Data may be used by the Promoter and its related entities for any of the following purposes should consent be given by the entrant:
    1. Direct marketing to the Entrant through sending marketing and promotional messages from the Promoter to the Entrant including messages sent electronically, by electronic mail, short messaging service or otherwise. The Promoter will give Entrants the option to opt-out at any time with instructions provided in each message sent;
    2. Conducting this promotion (including but not limited to determining and notifying winners) and promoting the services and other offerings of the Promoter;
    3. The normal management, operation and maintenance of this promotion.
    4. Investigation of complaints; and
    5. Disclosure as required by relevant laws and regulations.
  4. The Promoter will otherwise handle the Personal Data in accordance with its Privacy Policy available at http://w3.unisa.edu.au/policies/policies/corporate/Privacy/Policy.asp and in accordance with the laws and regulations of the relevant jurisdiction for the entry. You may request access to, check, seek the correction of, or withdraw your consent to use of, your Personal Data by notifying us in writing and addressed to:

    Copyright, Statutory guarantees, Waiver and liability
  6. All entries and any copyright subsisting in the entries become and remain the property of the Promoter who may publish or cause to be published any of the entries received. In participating in the prizes, the winners agree to participate and co-operate as required in all editorial activities relating to the Competition, including but not limited to being interviewed and photographed. The winners (and their companions) agree to granting the Promoter a perpetual and non-exclusive licence to use such footage and photographs in all media worldwide, including online social networking sites, and the winners (and their companions) will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
  7. Prize winners are advised that tax implications may arise from their prize winnings and they should seek independent financial advice prior to acceptance of that prize.
  8. To the maximum extent permitted by law, all conditions, warranties, guarantees, rights, remedies, liabilities and other terms which may be implied by statute, custom or the common law are excluded from the promotion and these Terms. If:
    1. any supply under these Terms is a supply of goods or services to a consumer within the meaning of the Australian Consumer Law; or
    2. these Terms are subject to implied or statutory guarantees or warranties under the law of any applicable jurisdiction which cannot be excluded, nothing contained in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies the application of any such provision, guarantee or warranty (‘Non-Excludable Provisions’).
  9. If any supply under these Terms is a supply of goods or services to a consumer within the meaning of the Australian Consumer Law, to the extent that the Australian Consumer Law permits the Promoter to limit its liability, then the Promoter’s liability will be limited to:
    1. in the case of services, the cost of supplying the services again or payment of the cost of having the services supplied again; and
    2. in the case of goods, the cost of replacing the goods, supplying equivalent goods or having the goods repaired, or payment of the cost of replacing the goods, supplying the goods or having the goods repaired.
  10. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Provisions, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) is not responsible for and excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of:
    1. any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter's control);
    2. any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference;
    3. any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter;
    4. any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms;
    5. any tax liability incurred by a winner or Entrant; or
    6. use of a prize (including any travel or activity related thereto).
  11. These Terms are to be exclusively interpreted and governed by the laws applicable in South Australia, Australia.
